Andreas Krambias is a Cypriot musician and composer currently based in Gothenburg, Sweden. His musical journey began at the age of seven with the bouzouki. Most recently, he completed his bachelor’s degree in the World Music Programme at the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg, under the guidance of oud master Ahmad al Khatib. As a performer, Andreas has appeared as a bouzouki soloist with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra (2016) and has participated in international festivals. He is a founding member of the ensembles Burek Duo, Alasia Trio, and Pomåna, and is also a member of the Gothenburg Alternative Orchestra. Throughout his musical journey, he has performed in concerts and festivals in Cyprus, Sweden and abroad, such as Macao, Netherlands, Germany, Norway, Estonia, Lithuania, Slovenia and Jordan.
In 2021 he released the album ISKIOS with Burek Duo. Among his most meaningful collaborations is the one with renowned lyricist Lina Nikolakopoulou on the theatrical production Horika Ydata that toured in Cyprus and Greece in 2025.
His latest project is Andreas Krambias quintet where he presents his own compositions.About Andreas' compositions:Andreas’s compositions reflect the musical traditions he grew up with, those he has studied, and the diverse influences that have left a lasting impact on him. Coming from the Eastern Mediterranean region, he places particular emphasis on melody and on the rich diversity of scales and rhythms found throughout this area. He is drawn to the beauty of unison in modal music, while also experimenting with different drones that reveal alternative aspects of modality. A central goal of his work is to bring together related musical heritages within the same compositions, allowing them to coexist through shared musical concepts such as form, scale, and rhythm. All these traditions pass through his personal filter. Rather than recreating or imitating existing styles, Andreas seeks to communicate his own experiences, thoughts, and emotions, sharing them with audiences through sound.

It varies widely in style and seasoning, just like Burek Duo’s music.”Burek duo has performed in festivals and concerts in Sweden and Cyprus. In 2021 Burek duo released its first album "ISKIOS" which is an independent production.
Alasia trio
"Alasia" is a Cypriot folk music group consisting of Christos Isidorou, Kyriakos Markoullis and Andreas Krabias. The aim of this trio is to study the musical tradition of the island and highlight the richness of its melodies, rhythms and lyrics. Its name is inspired by a pre-Homeric reference to the island as "Alasia"."Alasia" combines instruments known in Cyprus, such as the pithkiavlin (shepherd's flute) and the lute, but also unknown ones, such as the oud and the lafta. What makes "Alasia" special is the performance of Cypriot songs and tunes without the preeminent solo instrument of this tradition, the violin.
Andreas Krambias Quintet
The Andreas Krambias Quintet moves creatively between musical traditions and contemporary sound.Through the melodic playing of the oud, the velvet texture of the strings, and the rhythmic drive of the double bass and drums, a unique sonic landscape emerges, where Mediterranean lyricism meets experimentation and modern orchestration. The compositions of Andreas Krambias are inspired by the musical traditions of the Eastern Mediterranean, the maqam system, and the complex rhythms that characterize the region. At the same time, through improvisation – a feature present in both modal traditions and jazz – and with the inclusion of “Western” instruments, the music reveals how, with a contemporary compositional and orchestral approach, the two worlds can coexist harmoniously. The quintet seeks new sonic perspectives, creating a sound that is at once deeply personal and universal.
The ensemble could perform in different formats like quartet, trio etc.
Andreas Krambias can record plucked string instruments* for album recordings, film scores or advertisements from his own professionally equipped studio.
